Does anyone have links to technical specifications about the power consumption breakdown of existing AR headsets and Phone apps? I am looking to better understand which components or technologies are consuming the most energy in current products.
Recently Top AI Researchers have claimed that more power efficient AI algorithms will be needed to make AR glasses a feasible product idea. “we just don’t know how to do it in a tiny form factor with power consumption that will be compatible with AR glasses.”
I am skeptical, as I expect display/projection and the graphics rendering pipeline to be far larger consumers of power than deep inference algorithms, like real-time SLAM and gesture recognition.
Can anyone help me find some hard numbers to falsify or confirm my suspicions?
