Hi u/channel, we have some impactful news to share. Today, Niantic announced the acquisition of 6D.ai (LINK) — an exciting day for our team and the AR community overall. We want to thank you all for the support, feedback and enthusiasm throughout the last few years. Our team will continue to be laser focused on building the 3D map of the world and finding the best way to bring those tools to the developer community so that everyone can benefit from the potential of AR. A sincere thank you to everyone here who dove into our SDK, gave feedback, posted demo videos and even launched apps – it was truly incredible to see all of your great work and watch our technology come to life. In order to focus on merging our technology into Niantic’s global-scale mapping and AR platform, we will be winding down our current developer tools over the next 30 days, and will shift focus to how we can help developers build realistic AR applications through the Niantic Real World Platform. As an early beta developer, you will be able to login to the developer dashboard and continue to update your apps from March 31 – April 30. Please do not hesitate to reach out if you have any concerns here. While the SDK will remain available for 30 days, we will keep this developer Slack channel to respond to questions. To learn more about the acquisition, you can check out John Hanke’s post on Niantic’s blog.Thank you again for your enthusiasm, feedback and support these last few years. We look forward to seeing what you continue to do for the AR industry. — Matt
