MezzAR: An Augmented Reality Measurement App
Measuring surfaces using traditional methods- rulers, inch tapes, etc. is hard and tedious. With the help of this app, you can measure any surface in a matter of seconds- just selects two points on the screen- and boom... you have your distance in a second.
👓
MezzAR is an augmented reality application that uses the capabilities of smartphone cameras to measure things in the real world. This app is accurate to within half an inch for short measurements, but off by several inches for long measurements- but all depends upon the hardware of your device. To run this app, make sure that your smartphone has ARCore enabled. If you do not have ARCore enabled/cannot enable it, please check if your device is compatible with it. This app requires camera permissions to measure things.

The app uses artificial intelligence to track planes. Once it tracks planes, it allows users to spawn spheres on the plane by touch. Once two spheres are instantiated, the app gets the vector components of the spheres and uses the distance formula to calculate distance between the vectors. Once the distance is calculated, it is converted and shown to the users.

Disclaimer: The accuracy of measurement depends upon the hardware of your device. The better the hardware the more accurate the distance.
