Knowledge dump of AR

Hi everyone,

I’m as new as it gets in AR. I have a degree in electrical engineering and I’ve been interested in AR for quite some time, I took a few courses in Computer Vision and programming in college but my main domain is PCBs and electronics.

I am posting this to ask for a little bit of direction. I’ve been reading about LCoS’s, waveguides, and hardware since its closer to what I understand best but now came the scary time of dipping my toes into the world of software, and its so vast that I simply feel lost. Is there anywhere online that breaks down the software tools that are popularly used? Should I dabble in computer vision and image processing algorithms, or attempt to familiarize myself with ARkits, Vuforia, Unity3D and etc? Anything will help.

My end goal is to be able to design an AR headset that assists in day to day tasks. I think that I should start with understanding SLAM, object recognition, machine learning, and etc, but I am not sure.

Thanks for any of your help. Cheers.

Truedepth camera symetrizing facial expressions??

Hi, I just bought an Iphone 11. One thing that surprised me is that, when using the truedepth camera to animate, such as with Live Face app or Live Link Face, the facial expressions are symetrized. So, for example, lifting the right eyebrow also lifts … Augmented Reality & /u/gamechanger4r
