OnePlus Nord Depth Camera for AR

With the release of the OnePlus Nord and its 5 megapixel Depth Camera i was wondering if it could possibly be useful for AR, like the depth camera of the Samsung S20. I’ve seen the S20 with the new Version of ARCore do amazing work with tracking and occlusion and if the Nord could do simular thing i would consider buying it.

Of course the phone was just release, not shipped, but maybe someone can predict its capabilities by its specs already.

thanks a lot, guys

How to change the Object that should show on the Marker scales itself proportional to the marker in ARCore?

Hey, hi!) I’m learning about ARCore augmented Images. I’m searching for a possibility to change the Object that should show on the Marker scales itself proportional to the marker. For instance if the marker is 3 cm the cube should be 3cm, too – If the marker is 30 cm , than the cube should be 30 cm.

I thought if I set the width of the marker in the image database – than it would work. But it doesn’t. Is there any way to make this work? Maybe you have an idea? Thanks.

I shared a few thoughts about ARCore Depth API in a video, as I find it a really big step forward for mobile AR

I need some guidance on how to start my AR project

Hello,

So I am making an educational app, and I wanted to add AR to it, so to start I have this physical map it’s a matrix of 16 cases (4 x 4) each case has a unique code, I want to have the app recognize each code and display a picture of choice there, that’s where the AR comes to play, I have tried using Vuforia + Unity but the result wasn’t as good as I wanted, also I prefer if it’s something I can implement to Android Studio easily, please share your ideas on this I just want guidance on how to start, like what to search for in order to start doing this, any development kits or frameworks I can use.

Edit 1: if you need any more details or something please ask me!

Edit 2: I heard that Google AR Core is good but I really didn’t find anything useful on how to implement my idea
