Need help picking AR glasses for development

Have been hoping to get into Augmented Reality for a good while now, but only now do I have the financial capability to do so.

My ideal device would be something with as wide of a coverage as possible, and without any cameras or other such bells and whistles (IMU is good). I also wouldn’t want to consider anything under 1080p per eye. My application is drawing three-dimensional shapes in the area around the user.

My initial pick was Moverio BT-40, but since it isn’t readily available where I live and I would have to order either way, I decided to dig around a bit more. Turns out, Moverio actually has a relatively narrow FOV at just 34 degrees, whereas there are certain other headsets offering a wider field of view.

Rokid Air seems to be just a better Moverio with its 43 degree viewing angle and focal adjustments, but it’s an unknown Chinese company and I don’t see much documentation on developing for it.

Dream Glass caught my interest with its whopping 90 degree diagonal, but its 1080p version is more than twice the price, and the form factor really isn’t something I would want to wear all day.

Does anyone have any experience with any of the products above? Or something else entirely to recommend?

I would prefer the budget of around $500-$700, but if the tech is truly worth it I am willing to go higher.

Blender to Spark AR ?!

I downloaded a model from SketchFab(.gltf) and it was just in few kb size. Then i wanted to add some more custom animation to the existing file with location based key frames . When i exported, the file size was huge! (Initially 300kb, now 34mb). That was problem 1.

The second issue i found was that while importing to the spark ar. It should’ve shown only one animation in the animation playback controller. But it was showing multiple animations in the drop down.

Please guide.

I don’t how people on sketchfab are making the file export in kb’s and mb’s, and how to have everything in just one animation.

I am buying ar glasses and need help making the best choice. is nreal a good choice?

I am rather decent with tech, and want ar glasses that i can use in a variety of conditions. i want them to work in day and night, i want them to have the ability to be ran with custom built software input, ie a sbc like rpi feeding it data from sensors for cool stuff like time, temp, and more. i want it to have hand sensing so i can interact with the display. so far, the nreal glasses seem to be the best pick, but i want to make sure i make the best choice, ideally under 1000 dollars, and something that isn’t setup like apple where it is a big fuck you on long term use and custom software/apps. i hope this is enough info, i do want to make the decision within a couple days max, as it is for my bday. thank you all.

App for viewing posters before you hang them?

The wife is trying to hang 12 posters today, but doesn’t know what pattern she wants to use. Trying to see if there’s a way to do it in AR first. We have iPhone, Android, and both Quests. Let me know what you think. I know there’s a lot of apps for furniture, but I don’t know of any for posters. Thanks!

ThinkEye X2 MR – Anything else like these on the market?

https://www.reddit.com/user/GroovyGoyim/draft/0bfa54e8-5307-11ed-9330-ea0de6a2b2b9

Minimum Requirements: Doesn’t require external components or cables to operate. Can stream video from other devices. Quick retrieval of important data, either through onboard storage or the aforementioned screen sharing.

The only thing I can find are these $2,500 behemoths, and they’re just total overkill for what I have in mind. The 8x digital zoom is nice, but I don’t see myself using the MR features or thermal lenses whatsoever.

Is there anything like this coming on the horizon that’s aimed more at general users and freelance professionals?
