just a demo I thought I’d share. Tensorflow face landmark detection was pretty easy, the 3d model took some learning, I had to create „morph targets“ that adjust their value (0.0-1.0) for the eyes/mouth, which gets set in threejs.

One thing I found challenging was rotating and positioning the 3d model directly over the face at the correct orientation, there’s some examples in python tensorflow I think but not sure those transformation functions were available in the js version.

Looking at getting a newer phone while the black Friday deals are going on. Not ready to commit to an iPhone even though I know they are objectively better for AR.

Information on it is sparse. Purely from an ARCore support standpoint, my current device supports more features than the newer ones. More specifically I have a Time of Flight sensor on my current device, but they stopped putting those on newer ones.

I realize the differences may be small as Google in general has stopped doing much development on the AR side of things, but my current device struggles with simpler AR tasks and it would be a huge quality of life upgrade if I could get some of that basic functionality back.

Looking for things even as small as slightly more up to date/more accurate sensors. I imagine other than the camera they don’t tend to update that stuff often. Even anecdotal evidence/opinions is helpful!
