Google AR Experiment - Hidden World

Basically, I want to create a program that runs on Android, that has something pop up when you tap on your phone screen. I'm very new to AR/Mobile development so I was wondering if this is a doable project if I put in a couple of weeks of learning ARCore and Unity. Or should I start with something a bit more simple?

Also, should I even learn ARCore and Unity or are there better alternatives?

Any and all advice will be welcomed!
