Learning AR Development
As a full-time web developer, I am skilled in using Ruby on Rails for the backend and React for the frontend. Recently, I have become interested in exploring the world of augmented reality (AR) development. However, the cost of getting started in this field is a concern for me. I am open to using any stack, such as the Quest Pro or ARKit on an iPhone with a LiDar sensor, but both options come with a high price tag. The Quest Pro, for example, costs around $1500 and is not officially available in my country, so I would have to pay for shipping as well. Additionally, iPhones are also expensive. While I prefer the Quest Pro because it offers more opportunities for testing the environment and a more immersive experience, I am also interested in Apple's AR glasses.
I have tried using ARCore on my Android phone, but the depth of field was not satisfactory and the overall experience was not enjoyable. I am eager to gain some hands-on experience with AR technology, as I am excited about its potential and would like to pursue it as a career. To that end, I am currently learning Threejs in the hopes that it will aid me in my AR development journey.
I understand that investment is often necessary for learning new skills, but I am currently unable to make such a large financial commitment. I am therefore open to suggestions for ways to learn about AR development without incurring heavy costs.
