As a team of 4 we have worked together on this for the last 2 weeks! I was mainly responsible for the augmented reality part of things and creating the artwork for the game, such as backgrounds, the 3D butterfly models, avatars and general styling too!
It's primarily aimed at parents who could occupy their children during the lockdown by sending them on an indoor butterfly hunt! By hiding the markers around the house the kids will have to find them, scan them in and catch the butterfly to save it into their collection!
As you might know, building a native AR app is getting easier by a minute with loads of programs and tools to choose from. However due to hardware limitations we had to opt for a web based AR app. Built in A-Frame, a web based VR coding framework, so most of the challenge came from applying VR logic to AR environments.
Here's a few images Imgur!
And here's the website, designed for mobiles and tablets but runs on desktop too: https://www.butterflyhunt.co.uk/
Let me know what you think!
