TLDR; please suggest research topics that will help me become an AR expert

This summer, I will be completing a research seminar as a final step in a degree in computer science. I will be required to choose a topic, and submit a thorough research paper covering the subject. My goal is to start a career in augmented reality development, and I'm particularly interested in technology that enhances the workflow of a hands on user, such as a warehouse order picker or a surgeon.

For a couple of years, I've known that I wanted to choose something related to Augmented Reality. I've chosen my electives to prepare me as much as possible for AR dev. I also plan to develop an augmented reality app that is both related to my topic and leverages what I learn.

I know that the topic will be something related to AR, but I'm still unsure about which topic to choose specifically.

Ideally, it would:

• teach me practical knowledge that I can use in my career
• has ample existing, ongoing research that I can access

I would love to choose a topic that gave me insights into how AR actually works, "under the hood" so to speak. I have already taken a class in Computer Vision, so maybe something that bridges that with AR. I have considered spatial computing as an option, but this is still probably too broad.

I would infinitely appreciate any suggestions or guidance.
