AR Anchors

From a user’s perspective, how was it to use Google’s Cloud Anchors or Microsoft’s Spatial Anchors? Smooth?

How long to scan an average size room?

Would it be fairly straightforward for the average mobile user to generate an anchor? Assuming they’re not tech savvy.

Thanks!

8th Wall vs custom WebAR build

I’m wanting to build a WebAR app similar to leaving a virtual note on a kitchen countertop for other users to view. My understanding this will require some form of anchors (persistent viewing for users that visit the indoor environment).

Based on my initial research, 8th Wall could implement this though it is costly for commercial purposes.

How difficult is this to build from scratch as a custom build using an existing WebAR library (three.js, babylon.js, etc)?

Or best to go with 8th Wall for MVP?

I’m not a programmer but have a basic understanding and am willing to learn or partner.

Appreciate any feedback!

AR Platform Recommendations

I’m searching a WebAR platform that incorporates markerless anchors/triggers for indoor spaces with the following requirements:

User A: 1. Visit url 2. Sign-up page, profile creation and SAAS payment 3. Scan indoor space and add text description (markerless anchors) 4. Any user in the same environment can view the text description via a web browser

User B: 1. Visit url (no profile creation) 2. While in the same indoor space, views text description (markerless anchors)

Is this a custom build or can I use an existing platform (preferably no-code)?

I’ve been testing a few different platforms but I would really appreciate the wisdom of this sub.

Thanks!

Cloud Anchors Solution for MVP

Sorry if this comes across as a typical non-dev post 🙈 My programming knowledge is limited (python from university and dabbled with Flutter). With that being said, my goal is to launch an AR MVP.

The basis of the concept requires Cloud Anchors to label rooms and objects for all users to view.

Based on my initial research, using a framework seems to be the most common cross-platform solution for Cloud Anchors whether it’s Niantic’s Lightship, ARcore, or Foundation AR (Unity).

Unfortunately I didn’t come across any reasonably priced No-Code AR platforms that featured Cloud Anchors.

Is it reasonable to learn one of the above frameworks with my limited knowledge of programming and basically zero knowledge of AR programming?

If yes, which would you recommend I focus on.

If no, I’m open to suggestions.

Thanks for your feedback!
