Free software for creating OBJ characters to use with Mixamo?
I want to create a customized animated version of a real-life person for an AR experience.
To do this, I’m trying to find software that will let me create an OBJ format character, which I can then upload to Mixamo. Here are the requirements for the OBJ software I need:
- Free to use.
- Super-easy to use. Something like a Sims character creator with toggles and feature pickers. I’m not looking to build from scratch using Blender.
- Allowed to use obj models for commercial use.
I appreciate any recommendations you have to offer!

I made an Augmented Reality QR code based scavenger hunt for a graphic design conference.
| |
I created an augmented reality scavenger hunt game that promoted networking during the event. Guests were incentivized to scan each other’s QR codes on the back of their lanyard badges to spark conversation and promote networking. I created 7 different QR codes with an individual AR-animated 3D model of the letters spelling out this year’s conference’s theme, “imagination”. Every participant’s lanyard had one of the QR codes associated to an animated I,M,A,G,N,T or O. Conjointly, four iterations of an eighth QR code that displayed an animated AR Y25 logo was given to four speakers, unbeknownst to the rest of the guests. The goal of the game was to find one of four animated Y25 logos by scanning and interacting with as many guests as possible. In order to promote the idea of stepping out of your comfort zone and talking to a new person, attendees were asked to take screenshots of the logo and to present them to the staff to claim one of the four available prizes. The augmented reality technology used to display my original character and logo animations on the user’s smartphone, regardless of OS, was 100% mobile browser based and didn’t require the user to download or install any additional software. This choice was based on making the scavenger hunt experience accessible to every guest. All eight animations were conceived, modeled and animated on Blender and exported to mywebar.com for augmented reality integration. submitted by /u/ebaumbach |

Augmented Reality Study
Howdy, everyone. What are some things you dislike about AR? What are some things you think could be improved?
This question comes from an engineering senior design project I am currently working on. We’re interested in AR-related problems (hardware, software, user experience, etc.) and we want to create a startup in hopes of solving these issues.

Implementing Websites Into AR
I’m currently in the process of acquiring a DIY iPhone AR kit and was wondering if anyone here had any knowledge on whether it would be possible to implement an already existing website into its own AR app. In this case, I’m asking about this website w… Augmented Reality & /u/AdventureGrams
